Elder and Second Assistant Pastor Cleophus "Cleo" Anderson was born on August 30, 1966, in Detroit, Michigan, and departed this life on July 18, 2026. Age 59 years.
Cleo attended and graduated from Murray-Wright High School and later attended Michigan State University where he majored in accounting.
Throughout his professional career, he demonstrated dedication and excellence in his work. He was employed by FedEx for 10 years and spent 24 years with the Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA). He retired in June 2026, a milestone of which he was extremely proud. His service and commitment to CATA left a lasting impact on both colleagues and the community he served.
A man of strong faith, Cleo faithfully served at Eliezer Temple Church in Lansing, Michigan, where he held the position of Elder and Second Assistant Pastor. His church family was an important part of his life, and he found great fulfillment in worship, ministry, and serving others.
In his leisure time, Cleo enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and friends, and attending church activities. He embraced life with warmth, generosity, and a genuine love for people.
Cleo was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend who was deeply loved by many. His faith, wisdom, and caring spirit touched countless lives throughout his journey.
Cleo was the proud father of his only child, Christopher "Chris" J. Anderson, whom he greatly enjoyed mentoring and preparing for life's realities. He was also a devoted grandfather to Chris Jr. and Cainan Anderson, who were truly the apples of his eye and brought him immense joy.
He is also survived by his loving mother, Doristine Anderson; siblings, Yvette Anderson, Lisa Booze, Marie (David) Udo, and Gary Booze. He also leaves behind a loving family of nieces and nephews, including Alena Anderson, Brandon Booze, Jordon Booze, Dexter Booze, Antonio (Carlisa) Booze, and his great-niece, Chloe Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cleophus Booze, Sr. and his sister, Debbie Booze.
Cleophus Anderson's legacy of faith, dedication, love, and service will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to share in his life.
