Clemmert Earl King, a cherished soul and beloved member of his community, was born on October 24, 1954, in Lansing, Michigan. He was the treasured son of the late Eddie B. Bouler and James Floyd King and was lovingly raised by his maternal aunt, Azzie Lee Blackman, until her passing in 1969. Thereafter, his paternal grandmother, Earline King, continued to nurture him with boundless love and care.
Clemmert’s journey began in Sweetwater, Alabama, where he spent his early years forming the foundation of a life filled with warmth and kindness. He graduated from marengo High School in Dixon Mills, Alabama, in May 1972, before pursuing further education in basic art classes at Lansing Community College, where his lifelong passion for creativity and expression began to flourish.
In June 1972, Clemmert embarked on a new chapter, moving to Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he joined the workforce at Humphrey Products. Over his 15-year tenure, he became known for his unwavering dedication and diligence. Later, he continued to demonstrate his strong work ethic during a brief period of employment at McDonald’s.
Clemmert was a man of many interests, particularly his love for automotives. He found joy in buying and admiring cars and also loved drag car racing, often engaging in animated conversations about them with friends and family. His passion for cars was matched only by his love for people. Clemmert’s life was a testament to the strength of relationships, as he cultivated deep and enduring bonds with those around him.
A member of Paradise Missionary Baptist Church, Lansing, Michigan, Clemmert’s spirit was one of generosity and warmth. His quick smile and welcoming nature made everyone feel at home, and his kindness left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He was predeceased by many dear family members, including his aunt, Azzie Lee Blacman; his parents, Eddie B. Bouler and James King; his brothers, Sylvester Bouler, John Griffin, and Billy King; his paternal grandparents, Lujay and Earline Kings, his aunts, Corrine Austin, Bessie Hughs, Lizzie Lockett, Clara Spencer, Girtha McMIllian, and Juanita Taylor; and his uncle, Bishop George Robinson.
