“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10” Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and sister went home to her Savior on October 29, 2023 at Symphony Tri-Cities Assisted Living. Age, 81 years. Christine Doxie Livingston was born to Emmitt O’Neal Doxie, Sr and Eliza Skipworth Doxie on April 15, 1942, Florence, AL. She was preceded in death by both parents. She came to Saginaw in 1953 raised by her older sisters and attended Saginaw Public Schools. In 1961, Christine married the love of her life, John D. Livingston, Sr. He preceded her after 52 years of marriage in 2013.
Christine retired from Health Source Saginaw, formerly Saginaw Community Hospital, after 22 years of service. She worked as a Nurse’s Assistant and served as Union Steward. She was a devoted member of New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Christine competed on the Ladies Bowling League with Saginaw Community Hospital. She was an avid shopper and reader of novels. During her earlier years, Christine was a baker of great German Chocolate cakes and sold Tupperware in her spare time. She also enjoyed spending time with her family until her illness.
Christine leaves to cherish her memories and wisdom, five children. John D. (June) Livingston, Jr., (Ypsilanti, MI); Yvonne Livingston (Saginaw, MI); James B. (Helen) Livingston, (Saginaw, MI); Christopher (Sharon) Livingston, (Austin, TX); Derrick Livingston, (Dumfries, VA); One dearest sister, Sarah A. Johnson (Saginaw, MI); Three sisters-in-law, Ulanda Smith (River Rouge, MI); Hattie Doxie (Saginaw, MI); Geraldine Doxie (Bridgeport, MI); One brother-in-law, Hanson Pitts (Flint, MI). Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. One god-son, Damion L. Brown. special nieces, Brenda Doxie and Evelyn Doxie Holloway. Also, special friends, Alma and Udell Holmes, Maxine Gillespie, Linda Stuckey and Ellen Simon, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Mother Christine Doxie Livingston was preceded by her mother-in-law, Essie B. Livingston-Culpepper; five brothers, Robert Louis Doxie, Emmitt O. Doxie, Jr., Joseph Doxie, Tommie N. Doxie, William H. Doxie, Sr; sisters, Esther Mae Napier, Alma Jean Pitts. brothers-in-law, Arthur Napier, Harper Pitts and James Johnson;sisters-in-law, Eva Doxie, Fannie B. Doxie, Nancy Doxie and Laura Jean and Patricia Pitts; one granddaughter, Christina Patman and one great-grandson, Keon’tay Houston.
