Catherine Clayton

Mrs. Catherine Clayton peacefully entered eternal rest on Monday, December 29, 2025, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 86 years. She is the daughter of Ira and Marie Weathers in Yazoo City, Mississippi on Wednesday, October 4, 1939.

As a young woman, she worked on the intensive care unit at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan. She met Columbus Clayton and they shared 62 years of love, partnership and devotion until he passed away on December 29, 2020. They were blessed with 9 children together. Catherine was known for a strong faith in God. She loved to shop and most of all, she loved to decorate! She enjoyed spending time together with her children, grandchildren, and other family. Catherine will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She leaves to cherish her memories, 8 children, Cynthia Jackson, Elmira Carter, Jennifer (Larry) Johnson, Columbus (Fannie) Clayton, Jr., Odell Clayton, Donell (Donia) Clayton, Melvin Clayton, and Michael Clayton; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Isaac Weathers, Isaiah (Sherry) Weathers, and Jerome (Dawn) Weathers; sisters-in-law, Johnella Thomas and Verleen Cole; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special people to her, Evelyn Short, Mary Jackson, Ms. Virginia, Ms. Lovie Lemon, Pastor Willie and Sharon Mills and Bob Jones.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Columbus Clayton, Sr.; son, Marvin Clayton; parents; brother, Ira Westhers, Jr.; sisters, Frances Canty, Barbara Epperson, and Rutha Mae McGlory.
