Carla Henry

Carla Henry was born on Monday, February 22, 1965, in Lansing, Michigan. She was the only daughter of Leo and Joeline Shane. She transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Carla Henry was born in Lansing, Michigan and attended Tabernacle of David Church. She attended the Lansing Public Schools and graduated from J. W. Sexton High School. Carla had a deep passion for children and went on to own and operate her own Daycare Center. In addition to running her daycare, she fostered many children over the years.

Carla loved to worship the Lord first and foremost. She deeply loved her husband and family and loved spending time with them. She also loved shopping and being pampered when getting her hair and nails done.

Carla’s angelic smile lit up any room she entered, and it was infectious as others smiled right along with her. Regardless of her circumstances she always encouraged others. She was our angel—and others as well—here on earth. She taught us how to care for, believe in, and support each other as family and community, and in doing so, how to support each other’s wellness. Additionally, she touched countless lives and will be thoroughly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carla leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Clanford Henry of Lansing, Michigan; four daughters, Tamekia (Kissadrick) Evans of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, Laila Henry, Destiny Henry and Nicolette Henry, all of Lansing, Michigan; three sons, Timothy (Ashley) Shane of Detroit, Michigan, Jamar Henry and Johnny Henry, both of Lansing, Michigan; grandchildren, Brianna Evans, Ruth Evans, Naomi Evans, Julius Evans, Jeremiah Evans, Timothy Shane, Jr., Tyler Shane, Tori Shane, La’zariyah Diaz, Johnny Heny, Jr., Aaliyah Henry, Martavion Henry, Carmello Henry, Sariyah Henry, Avon Henry and Diamond Henry; nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and her church family.

Carla was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Joshua and Jaedon Evans; mother, Joeline Shane; and brother, Jerry Shane.

May Carla’s legacy live on through her family and all the countless lives she impacted through the time and love she shared with each and everyone.
