Mr. Ronald Eugene Chipp went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 4th, 2026, at the age of 69 years. Ronald was born on October 20th, 1956, in Brunswick, Georgia. He was deeply loved by his parents, Donald and Elouise Chipp of Detroit, Michigan.
Ronald attended Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan, where he met the love of his life, Phyllis. They were married for 48 years, and he often referred to her as "the honey on his waffles” and the” jelly in his donuts." They were a loving, connected, and inseparable couple. He was a devoted, loving, and present father to Aaron and Autumn, offering unwavering support and strength. Ronald greatly loved and adored his three precious grandchildren, Brave, Justice, and Sophia. His family was the delight of his life.
Ronald, a former Marine and Vietnam-era veteran, served his country proudly. He attained the rank of Corporal and was a qualified sharpshooter in marksmanship. As a leader, he used his military training throughout his life. After his military service, Ronald earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Detroit and worked in the defense and automotive industries. He held several patents in electrical engineering design. Ronald was gifted in computers and electronics. He enjoyed his career in engineering research and development, and used his skills at home and subsequently in the ministry.
Ronald’s true calling was to the ministry of the God he loved. He left a fulfilling career in engineering and began an even more fulfilling career in ministry. Ronald attended the charter class of Word of Faith School of Ministry, where he graduated salutatorian. He proved to be a true leader among the students and encouraged everyone after morning devotion with a resounding phrase, "Let's go away praising God!" These powerful and precious words still ring out today as the way every worship service at Faith Harvest Church is dismissed. Ronald served on staff as an assistant pastor at Word of Faith International Christian Center in Detroit, Michigan, under Bishop Keith Butler after graduating from Bible School. He founded Faith Harvest Church in Saginaw, Michigan in 1995, as a Bible-teaching, soul-winning, missions-oriented church.
Ronald went wherever the Lord told him to go, even to some of the most dangerous places on the planet. He preached the gospel, taught the Word of God, and held open-air crusades in Africa: Uganda, Tanzania, Congo, South Sudan, and Nigeria; in Europe: Paris, France, London, England, and in South America: French Guyana. He also founded the Faith Harvest Medical Clinic in Kampala, Uganda, and led a team on a medical mission outreach, greatly impacting the people of Uganda as well as his own congregation in Saginaw, Michigan. He established several churches in Uganda and Tanzania. He was ordained a Bishop by his pastor, Bishop Keith Butler of Word of Faith International Christian Center in Southfield, Michigan.
Ronald Chipp was a leader at home and in ministry, and he left a great legacy of love and faith. His favorite saying was "Be wise," and his family and congregation took it to heart. He loved music, westerns, and nature hikes. He had a great sense of humor and was known for his wisdom, honesty, and integrity.
