Belita Buckner

Belita Buckner was born on November 3, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois. The daughter of Ulysses and Anetta Floyd. She passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 77 years.

Belita lived in Chicago, Illinois until ’97 and then moved to Lansing, Michigan. She was a nurse for many years and helped all ages of people with disabilities. She was a member of Jesus of Nazareth Church of God in Christ and worked in the church pantry, helped with cooking, sang, and was an usher. She was a very independent woman and at 77 years, she still did everything on her own. She loved riding her Hoveround, she would be everywhere. Belita raised her children and grandchildren; she loved her family. She was very strong, intelligent, outgoing, and would help anyone. Cooking was something she loved to do, so she would often show her love by feeding everybody.

She leaves to cherish her memory sons, Jessie and Kenton Taylor; grandchildren, Chareese, Akeen, Ahmad, Patrice S., Patrice D., Shameka, Kee-Kee, Bang, Bump, Serenity, and Ranger; great grandchildren, Mec, Mesha, Renzo, Marri, Ron-Ron, Camille, Jeremiah, Ken Ken, Mya, RawRaw, Belita, Shahmad, Sky, A.J., Rickey, Kaliyah, Amarri, Amaya, Aliyah, and Three; sister, Diana Sterling; brother, Oliver Floyd; nieces, Ebony, Keyvnna, Fat, Little, and Melody; nephews, Frank, Derky, David, Donell, Ishe; many great nieces and great nephews; many cousins in Minnesota; and many God daughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; daughter, Sonya; grandson, Rickey; parents, Ulysses and Anetta; sisters, Wanda and JoMae; and nephew, Josheph.
