Life Reflections
Anthony Ray “Tony” Pruitt passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026, at University of Michigan Health Sparrow Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in Lansing, Michigan. Age 74 years. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday, March 29, 1952, to his parents, Eddie and Lavatha Pruitt.
Tony attended Madison Park Elementary and South High School. He had a number of hobbies and, as most of us know, he was very knowledgeable about the law. Anything you wanted to know, and, if he didn’t know, he’d find out for you. His favorite place to hang out was at the library, and wherever he traveled he made it his point to visit one.
When you dropped by Tony’s house, he’d get his black leather bag, pull out papers, and spread them all over the table to show you the next project he was working on. Whatever your intended visit was, you can forget it. He always gave you something to think about whether you agreed or not. Tony also loved his old school jazz, dancing around, while popping his fingers to his own beat. In addition to his self-taught skills, he loved traveling from the East to the West Coast.
Tony is survived by 3 children, Jemall Dulaney, Neea Hodges, and Sky Pruitt; 5 grandchildren, Jaylend, Alona, Ja’rece, Nalaya, and Eli; 4 great grandchildren, Mikahi, Khalil, Story Jae, and Ky’air; 9 siblings, Charles (Ida) Pruitt, Juanita Seabrooks, Jeanette Calvert, Eleanor Oliver, Phyllis Foreman, Dolly Daniel, Ralph Pruitt, Beverly (Samme) Harris, and Loretta Pruitt. He also leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Lavatha Pruitt; sister, Elizabeth Ann Pruitt; and brother, Albert James Milton.
Your Family Will Always Love, Cherish and Miss You
