Anthony Leroy King

Mr. Anthony King, age 79, of Lansing, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026. He was born on Monday, July 29, 1946, to Leroy King and Florence King. Although Anthony never had the opportunity to know his biological mother, Ethel Sherwood, he was deeply loved and cared for by Florence King, who raised him as her own. Florence adored Anthony and made sure he always had a home filled with care, support, and affection. Her love and dedication remained a constant throughout his life, and the bond they shared meant a great deal to both of them.

Anthony proudly dedicated many years of his life serving the community as a Detective with the Lansing Police Department. He was respected for his dedication, strength, and commitment to protecting and helping others throughout his career.

Anthony was a devoted member of All Saints Episcopal Church. He was also a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

Anthony will be remembered for his strong personality, sharp wit, and honest nature. He always spoke his mind and left a lasting impression on those around him. While he could be stubborn at times, those closest to him knew the loyalty, humor, and character that were behind it. He will be remembered in his own unique and unforgettable way.

Anthony is survived by his sister, Carol Holder of Lansing, Michigan; brother, Delmer Holder of Lansing, Michigan; sister, Barbara Jackson of Holt, Michigan; and sister, Joanne Wade of Michigan; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cheryl Bidle; and brothers, Kenneth Holder, Tom Holder, and Ron Holder.
