Allen Barnes, Jr.

Mr. Allen Barnes, Jr. passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Medilodge of Capital Area in Lansing, Michigan. Age 75 years. He was born Tuesday, January 23, 1951, to Allen Barnes Sr. and Georgianne Barnes in Saginaw, Michigan. He was the youngest son of 6 children and was affectionately cared for by his older brothers and sisters. Allen attended Webber Junior High School and Saginaw High, where he was known for his affluent skills on the basketball court. He received many accolades for the part he played on the team, even leading them to a championship during his time there.

In 1975, during a visit to Lansing, Michigan, Allen met the love of his life, Evelyn Foreman. They would marry in 1984 and to this union were born two sons, Andre Jamal Barnes and his name's sake, Allen E. Barnes.

As a CDL class-A, truck driver, he would create a career of legacy and longevity. Allen drove for 40+ years and even did 48 states for many years to make an honest living. This skill was learned as a teenager, gifted to him by his eldest brother-in-law. It would come to past that this career would inspire his youngest son, Allen, to follow in his footsteps, also obtaining a CDL class-A license and venturing off to a career as a truck driver of his own.

Allen loved fishing in his spare time and made it a fond memory for his oldest son, Jamal, as they would spend many days and nights on the water accompanied by their fishing buddies, John “J.B.” McClain and J.B.'s son, Jevon McClain. Outside of fishing he loved to barbecue and fry the fish he caught and cleaned. His family loved reaping the benefits of some of his favorite things to do, which were cooking for them and watching them enjoy his delicious food. He believed himself to be the "Domino King" a self-given title, he felt he earned from his many hours of beating all that would dare to sit at the table and compete with him.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his life partner, Evelyn Barnes; two sons, Andre (Crystal) Barnes and Allen E. Barnes, all of Lansing, Michigan; two stepdaughters, Casandra Oliphant of McKinney, Texas and Jackie Oliphant of Miami, Florida; 6 grand-daughters, 4 grandsons, and 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Diane Barnes of Saginaw, Michigan; sister-in-law, Norma (Eric) Bullock of Dallas, Texas; special friend J.B. (Tickie) McClain; many nieces, nephews, other family members and close friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Allen Barnes Sr.; mother, Georgianne Rice; sisters, Alda Smith, Moretta Barnes, and Jaqueline Wright; brothers, Raymond Goins and Oliver (Olie) Barnes; sister-in-law, Darlene Brown; brothers-in-law, John Brown and Donald Washington as well as a special relationship he shared with Enix Wright.
