Ms. Akeia D. Carr passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, September 30 in Lansing, Michigan at the age of 30 years old. Akeia, affectionately known to her friends as “baby girl”, was born Tuesday, August 24, 1993, to Melissa Carr and Keith Duncan in Lansing, Michigan.
Akeia was raised in Lansing and attended the Lansing and Waverly school districts. She also spent a year in Florida with her Grandma Pat. Akeia was truly a people person which led her to various jobs in retail and food service. She loved her job at Youngs Beauty where she could assist customers with hair and makeup products, her passion. Akeia had the most amazing hair styles and always had her hair and nails done. Akeia also loved to eat and was a constant presence at her mother’s table or calling her sisters to get together to cook or bar-b-que. Her children inherited her love for food also. She also loved being with friends, listening to music, where her laughter could be heard above the crowd. Akeia had recently begun attending Mind, Body and Soul Ministries.
Akeia left her earthly home to rejoin and rejoice with her grandparents, Patricia (Tommie) Carr-McIntyre, Melvin Markham, and Pastor Cora Duncan; great grandparents, John and Maxine Carr and Gertrud Markham.
Akeia will be forever loved and missed by her children Avarri, Journey, Destiny, and Regina; parents, Melissa Carr and Keith Duncan; siblings, AnjaNae, August, and Maxwell; nieces and nephews who loved their ‘TeTe’ dearly, Corey, JayDen, Delorean, Cherish, Aa’Nylah, and Aa’Layah; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends including her special friend, Richard Norman.
Rest peacefully, Sweet Akeia.
