Willie Ed Jones passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Eaton Community Palliative Care in Charlotte, Michigan. He was born March 28, 1930 to Edmond Jones and Lillie Thomas in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Willie traveled all over the United States, but was currently a resident of Lansing, Michigan. He was a high school graduate with college law credits. He accepted Christ at an early age, and was a member of Galilee Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War, and was awarded three Korean Service Ribbons with two Bronze Service Stars and a United Nations Service Metal after receiving an honorable discharge. Willie was employed at Thomas O?Brien Advertising Company for many years, National Cash Register (NCR), and Co-Founder of Chapel House USA Inc., which was a church supply company. He was an avid fan of horse races and televised baseball games.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond Jones and Lillie Thomas, one sister, Laura Robson.
He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Michael Jones; two daughters, Carmen Jones, Tanya Jones of Jefferson City, Missouri; six grandchildren, Matthew Slaughter, Michael Jones, Marcus Jones, Martin Jones, Jerimic Clayborn III, Breonna Bonds; two great-grandchildren, Kylice Hasse, Seandrea Slaughter; four sisters, Hattie, Mattie, Carrie, Josephine; three brothers, Albert Jones of Detroit, Michigan, Reverend Robert (Gwen) Jones of Riverside, California, Edmond Jones, Jr. of Shreveport, Louisiana; special nieces, Marjorie Stokes, Claudia Blake, Daisy Wilson, many other relatives and friends.
