Our beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Mr. Willie Hughes, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper. Age 72 years. He was born January 6, 1945 in Stamps, Arkansas to Sybil Washington and Willie D. Hughes, Sr.
Willie had a love for music, talent for singing, especially with his sons, and loved action movies. He also enjoyed watching boxing on TV and spending time with family and friends. Willie's favorite artist was James Brown. He retired from General Motors (Chevrolet Grey Iron Foundry) after 30 years of dedicated service. Mr. Hughes was member of UAW Local 668.
Mr. Hughes leaves to cherish loving memories his lifelong companion, Donna Brooks, who was the love of his life; four daughters, Latoya Brooks, Lamonique (Terry) Cooper, Dajuana Berryman, Elores (De'Andre) Jackson; five sons, Gasner (Alyssa) Hughes, Detrick Hale, Willie (Rolene) Rodgers, Ali Rogers, and Yule Hughes; two sisters, Rhonda Jenkins and Linda Hughes; a special aunt, Zoredie Hicks; many nieces; special niece, Elisa Jenkins; a host of nephews and cousins; twenty-eight grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his parents, Sybil Hughes and Willie D. Hughes, Sr., sister, Betty Jean Hughes, and two grandchildren.
