William Elem (Lansing)

Mr. William Elem passed away Thursday, April 23, 2020 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Age 74 years. He was born October 9, 1945 in Henning, Tennessee, the son of William Albert Elem and Recie Morgan.

William resided in Lansing, Michigan. He graduated with an Associate Degree in Business. William served in the United States Army retiring after 20 years of military service as a Sargent where he earned several military medals for good conduct, National Defense, Vietnam Service and a Bronze Star. William retired from the Lansing School District and worked in several local government positions. He loved sports and regularly played golf and tennis. William loved his life as a father, bachelor and golfer. He loved to travel; he frequently went to Florida. He was responsible and very committed to his daily routines, friends and life.

He leaves to cherish his memories his daughters, Dena Elem and Teresa Wilborn of Morton Grove, Illinois; four stepchildren, Ralph, Steve, Kirk and Keith; grandchildren, Jacob and Sophia Wilborn, Morton Grove, Illinois; 4 sisters, Ethel Drake, Las Vegas, Nevada, Jackie (Sam) Newton, Freeport, Illinois, Marie (John) White, Lansing, Michigan, Lillie Morgan-McNeal, Lansing, Michigan; 4 brothers, James Elem, Fulton, Tennessee, Danny Elem, Fulton, Tennessee, Donald Morgan, Atlanta, Georgia, Vincent Morgan, Lansing, Michigan; 10 nieces, 8 nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends including best friend, Michael Tyler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Albert and Recie Elem; son, Mark Elem and brother-in-law, Roy McNeal.
