William Clarence Martin, Jr. was born Sunday, January 21, 1962, in Saginaw, Michigan to William Clarence Martin Sr., and Dorothy Martin. William Clarence, Jr. graduated from Saginaw High School. He was an outstanding football player, which provided a 4-year scholarship to Bishop College in Dallas, Texas. His college sophomore year William Clarence, Jr. pledged with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
During William Clarence, Jr.s short life with us, he was known by several names (Red, Maestro, Hideout, Buddha, and the Familys Rock), but in unison, we all knew him as a loving and caring man. William Clarence, Jr. cherished the moments he spent with his father fishing and his mother teaching him about the Bible. In addition, he enjoyed being a big brother to his sister and sharing life experiences with his children and grandchildren. Most of all, he shared many laughs and talks on the patio with the fire pit burning, until daybreak with his wife, Tanya. William Clarence, Jr. was able to do all this while showing great support with the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
William Clarence, Jr. made his home in Saginaw, Michigan, Dallas, Texas, Jacksonville, Florida, Houston, Texas and Meridian, Mississippi. He married HIS GI JANE, Sgt. Tanya Martin of the United States Army on Saturday, October 16, 2011. During this time, William Clarence, Jr. was attending college for a degree in Supply Chain Management while maintaining a 3.8 GPA. He also enjoyed socializing with friends and family, playing dominos, cards, fishing and being a fraternity brother.
William Clarence, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sgt. Tanya Martin of Meridian, Mississippi; his parents, William and Dorothy Martin of Saginaw, Michigan; one sister, Deirdre Martin-Jones of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Aleah Martin of Houston Texas; three sons, Kemet Martin and Dale Cooper of Houston, Texas and Pvt. Djon Hutchinson of Wichita Falls, Texas; four grandchildren, Terrel Martin, McKenzie Martin, Anaya Cooper, and Amerah Cooper of Houston, Texas; two nieces, Lacretia Pitts of Houston, Texas and Tashina, along with her daughter, Lailah Pitts, of Jacksonville, Florida; god-niece, Khia Holmes (Chocolate Baby) of Dallas, Texas; a cousin/sister, Gwen (Greg) Jackson of Cedar Hill, Texas; two friends/brothers, Mike (Alicia) Soles of Rowlett, Texas and Paul Scott of Houston, Texas which he shared many secrets and special talks. William Clarence, Jr. has a host of close aunts, uncles and cousins who reside in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, and Virginia; and many close friends which are too numerous to list.
William Clarence, Jr. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, SHS class of 1980 classmate and an Omega Psi Phi fraternity brother. He valued family and friendship while showing a keen interest in helping others and learning more about his family history.
