Versie Mae Dixon (Lansing)

Ms. Versie Mae Dixon, affectionately known as “Mae”, transitioned into the Lord’s embrace in her 84th season of life on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital. Mae was born January 28, 1933 to Anthony and Nevade Thomas Wright in Stamps, Arkansas.

Mae attended Stamps, Lafayette County, Arkansas, Public Schools. In the 50’s, she moved to Lansing, Michigan and began a career as a cosmetologist. Though she continued her work as a cosmetologist, she also worked for the State of Michigan as a Supervisor in the Driver and Motor Vehicle Department for over 30 years. After retiring from the State of Michigan, she became a foster parent; caring for several children. Mae was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, confidant and encourager. Her life’s passion was loving and caring for others. She will be greatly missed.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Carol Dixon; son, Tristan Maximilian; grandson, Stanley; sister, Dorothy Jeanne Simpson; and many other beloved family and friends.

Mae was preceded in death by her life partner Allen Loggins, ex-husband O.C. Dixon, parents, and siblings, A.D. Wright, Opal Stewart, Anthony Wright, Eunice Ponder, Madie Wright, Sadie Phillips, and Emma Creasey.
