Tondalear Walker

November 4, 1955 — December 3, 2016

On December 3, 2016, a courageous battle ended for Tondalear Walker as her Heavenly Father called her home, where no more sickness ravages her body. She is now resting, safe in the arms of God.
Tondalear Walker was born November 4, 1955 to Dock C. and Mary Alice Walker. A resident of Bay City, Michigan, Tonda graduated from Central High School and received a Bachelors Degree from Central Michigan University and was fulfilling requirements toward a masters degree. She worked at the old Samaritan hospital in Bay City, Saginaw County Head Start and Saginaw Transit Authority Regional Services STARS.
She confessed Christ and joined the Second Baptist Church as a child, and reunited with them as an adult under the leadership of Pastor Seth R. Doyle. Tonda served as a choir member, member of both Forget me Not and No Longer Entangled mission circles. Her service also included becoming the church secretary where she refused a salary for several months because she loved her pastor and church family.
A loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Tonda was a central and integral part of her family. She was loved by all her nieces, nephews and cousins as well. Her life was dedicated to loving and caring for her son, Andrew. She was a giver in all areas of her life, but especially with her family! Everyone received something from Tondalear for Christmas and Birthdays. Her family enjoyed her mac n cheese, fried rice and curried chicken. She was a good steward over all that God gave her.
Quick to turn a phrase, Tondalear loved life, music, singing and dancing. Her family and friends knew her to be a stylish dresser; her face, hair and nails were always done to perfection!
Tondalear leaves a living legacy through her son, Andrew Tyrone Walker; grandchildren, Pierre Houston, Monique Williams, Myoesha Moore, Merridia Walker and Andrew Walker, Jr.; great-grands, Christian, Musique, LaMiyah, and the twins, DiMiyah and LaMiyah. The chain has been broken and she leaves beautiful memories for her siblings, Denise Gipson Tyiska, Crystal Byas, Tina (William) Daniels, Micheal Walker and David Walker, all of Bay City, Michigan, and Wanda Faye (Ben) Harris of Rockford, Illinois. Tonda also leaves a special uncle, Samuel (Grace) Gipson, and a special aunt, Clara (Charles)Davis; her Team-Team, Cherae Thompkins and William Daniels; god-sister, Michele Abner, god-brother, Russell Lavone Smith, god-daughter, Evelyn Bootsie Richardson, longtime girlfriends, Mary Gallegos, Beatrice Gipson, Jheri Draves, Cindy Bradley and Mabel Porter; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Tondalear was preceded in death by her parents, Dock C. and Mary Alice Walker; grandparents, Wesley and Roxie Walker, John Wesley and Katie Gipson; sister, Alicia Ann Walker; granddaughter, Shirelle Houston; special niece, Lakeshia Denise Walker and her best friend, Pearlie M. Shelton.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Ali, Dr. Masri, Dr. Manawar, and the staff at McLaren, Carriage House, and Bay Special Care.
