Tommy Davis

Mr. Tommy Tom Davis went to be by his Heavenly Fathers side on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at St. Marys of Michigan Medical Center. Age 88 years. He was born March 10, 1927 in Brunswick, Mississippi to Hamp Davis Sr. and Edna Miller Davis.
Tommy was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan, previously residing in Jackson, Mississippi. He was educated in the public schools of Mississippi. Mr. Davis was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1948 until 1954. During his service, he received a certificate of graduation from Kitzingen Training Center in Kitzingen, Germany having successfully completed the Non-Commissioned Officer Development course. In 1961, Tommy received a certificate of service from the Department of the U.S. Air Force in recognition of ten years of faithful federal service. In March of 1970, Mr. Davis was chosen as a man of good report, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, and capable of using the office well, was set apart publicly to the office and work of Deacon at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi. He also performed the duties of a patriotic citizen and served with distinction and honor as a juror in the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan in December, 1987. During latter years, Mr. Davis was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. He will be missed by family and friends who loved him dearly.
He leaves to cherish his memory a special niece, Cherylrene Elizabeth Lowe, who was his caregiver from 1994 until his passing; nieces, Tayla Lowe, Joellen McLahaney and Alice Smith; nephews, DeEddrick Lowe and Sheldon Tillman; many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Hamp Davis Sr. and Edna Miller Davis, sisters, Julia Foster, Aretha Foster, Luetitia Tillman and Nancy Toney; brothers, Hamp Davis Jr., Aaron Davis Sr., Mack Richardson, James Davis and Walter Davis.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at St. Marys Medical Center 4-North, A&D Home Health Care, Kennedy Care and Ivan E. Phillips and the staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
