Thurman Vanzant, Jr.

Mr. Thurman Vanzant, Jr. was born November 19, 1960 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Thurman Vanzant, Sr. and Nancy Ann Livingston. He passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the age of 59 years.

Thurman lived in Saginaw for the last two years but spent most of his life in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended Normandy High School in St. Louis and worked the majority of his life installing carpet for his father’s business, Van’s Carpet Service.

Todd loved basketball, fishing, rapping and playing softball and baseball. He loved his St. Louis Cardinals. He was always happy and known for telling jokes and keeping people laughing. He loved his family and always wanted to be with his family and friends. He really enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and giving them too much candy. Todd was a jack of all trades, comedian and chef, and he will truly be missed.

Thurman was preceded in death by his father, Thurman Vanzant, Sr.; stepmother, Pauline Vanzant; brother, Vernon Vanzant; aunts, LeGirtha Walker, Rose Stewart, Beatrice Williams and Lessie M. Cooper.

He leaves precious memories with four children, Thurman Vanzant Shelton, Mark Anthony (Autumn) Vanzant, Andrew Vanzant, Alita Vanzant; grandchildren, Jordan Vanzant Shelton, Anthony Sheldon Vanzant, JaDen Andrew Vanzanat, A’moni Calise Vanzant; mother, Nancy Ann Livingston; sisters, Cynthia Vanzant, Canton, Ohio, Grace (Victor) Moyer, Oklahoma, Lesia (Michael) Rollins, Kentucky, Teaneka (Anthony) Blackmon, Saginaw, Michigan; brothers, Neiman (Jona) Jones, Anthony Vanzant, Joshua (Natalie) Liverston; aunts, Carrie Warford, Claudia Cooper; uncle, Louis Hutcherson, Jr.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including the Shelton Family, Pagedale friends, clients, customers and his godmother.
