Tenesia Houston (Lansing)

Tenesia DeMichelle Houston, age 35 entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Sparrow Health System, Sparrow Campus in Lansing, Michigan. She was born May 27, 1986, to Jacqueline Houston and Terry Lee Smith.

Tenesia resided in Lansing, Michigan. She attended Lansing Eastern High School, and furthered her education at Douglas J Cosmetology. Her favorite pastime was braiding hair and she was excellent at it. Tenesia also enjoyed crafting, shopping, taking trips and going out to eat. She especially loved crab legs. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter, Desirae and her family. Tenesia loved her family and was very supportive of them. She would go out of her way to help in any way she could.

Tenesia leaves to cherish her memory her 3 children, Terrion Houston, Jamari Parker, and Desirae Bennefield; parents, Jacqueline Houston and Terry Lee Smith; 6 brothers, Jerome, Keith, and Terrance Houston, Terry Jr., Dante, and Atterius Smith; sister, Deyeasia Todd; 5 aunts, Monica Ethridge, Lakesha Ewulomi, Latonia Smith, Ashley Love, and Amy Lee Williams; 4 uncles, Jerome (Melanie) Houston, Darren Kimbrough, Tyrone Houston, and Emmanuel Brown; grandmother, Diane Smith; grandfather, Jerome Houston; great aunts, Doris Franklin, Affie (Joe) Parker, Paralee Balante, Eliza Leggions and Mary (Abraham) Odunuga; great uncles, King Robertson, Frank Houston, and Richard (Vera) Houston; many nieces, nephews, great aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends including special friends, Angel Porter, Quelar Smith, and Tony Davis.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Sarah Kimbrough; grandfather, Willie Young; and great grandparents, Richard and Eliza Houston. Tenesia will also join the love of her life, Mario Jemison “Red”.
