Tanya "Shortee" Hoggs

June 10, 1977 — August 27, 2017

Mrs. Tanya Larine Hoggs, AKA "Shortee" passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper. Age 40 years. She was born June 10, 1977 in Saginaw, Michigan to Oliver T. Poole and Wilhemnia (Bina) Lewis.

Tanya received her education from various school systems as her family traveled out of Michigan during her youth. She received the Lord as Savior and united with St. Paul Baptist Church of Saginaw, Michigan under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Vincent D. McMillon. Tanya loved spending time with her grandchildren and other family members. Her interests included business management, especially starting up her own restaurant called “Boss Hoggs Eatery.” Besides cooking, Tanya’s hobbies included playing bingo, Pokeno, chess, and dominoes. She was a very loveable, caring, smart, and funny person. Tanya cared about everybody and would help anybody. She always figured out what to do and how to do it. As a loving wife and mother, Tanya would smile through every situation no matter what and give you a wink with her “boss and secretary” attitude. She is dearly remembered for her famous conclusive statement, “Yall, gonna get along whether I’m here or gone. God’s got the last “say so” over everything.” She will be truly missed by all who loved her.

She leaves to cherish loving memories her husband, Welton Yajnell Hoggs, Saginaw, Michigan; four daughters, JayShawnta, Jayniece, and Jaysa Phillips, and Darshae Poole; one son, Darquese Poole; four step children, Ajenell, Yajntavia, Miangel, and Nevaeh Hoggs; two grandchildren, Jordynn Powell and Paris Williams; father, Oliver T. Poole; four sisters, DeShannon (Adejtunji) Henry, Tameka Greene, Tryvonna Jackson, Tanesha Poole and step-sister, Tonya Lewis; one brother, Dominic (Angela) Williams and step-brother, Anthony Lewis; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; mother-in-law, Jettie M. Hoggs; two sisters-in-law, Reina (Robert) Lane, Gloria (Robert) Hughes; one brother-in-law, James (Loretta) Norwood; step-mother, Maxine White, and many other relatives and friends.
