Steve Parker (Lansing)

October 27, 1954 — August 21, 2019

Mr. Steve Parker transitioned to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at his residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 64 years. Steve was born on October 27th 1954 in Mason, Tennessee to the late Floyd and Esly Mae (Lauderdale) Parker.

Steve accepted Christ at an early age and united with Pleasant Grove Methodist Church in Mason, Tennessee. As an adult he was a member of Mount Hope Church in Lansing, Michigan, and he attended faithfully until his health failed.

Steve was educated in the Tipton County school system, and after leaving Frazier High School, he worked for Warwick Electronics in Covington, Tennessee and in the construction industry in Memphis, Tennessee. In May 1978, Steve relocated to Lansing, Michigan and was hired by the General Motors Corporation. He was a hard-working, dedicated employee for over 20 years until he was medically retired in September 1998.

Steve was a handsome gentleman and always well-dressed... So much so that even his work clothes were always pressed, creased, and pristine. At GM, he was affectionately known as both "Parker Boy" and "Slim Goody". He was loved by his co-workers and never met a stranger. He had a heart of gold, loved people, and would give you his last. Steve loved to ride horses, travel, and attend family gatherings and cook-outs. He also was a sports car enthusiast and loved to dine out. Some of his favorite restaurants were Cheddar's, Red Lobster, and Cracker Barrel. On almost any day, you could walk into one of those establishments and see his sweet smiling face. Steve will be greatly missed.

He leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Jelani Woodland of Memphis, Tennessee; two daughters, Keneko Claybon of Mason, Tennessee and Lekendra Bonds of Memphis, Tennessee; three grandsons: Austin Treadwell and Kavious Bonds of Memphis, Tennessee and David Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia; one granddaughter, Shaterekia Johnson of Memphis, Tennessee; two brothers Rever Lauderdale of Lansing, Michigan and Ken Parker of Mason, Tenessee; six aunts, Katherine (Ocie) Middlebrook of Lansing Michigan, Mable Thomas and Brenda Adams of Memphis Tennessee, Archie Fayne of Brighton, Tennessee, Margaret Lauderdale of Cleveland, Ohio, Mattie Lou Parker of St Louis, Missouri; one uncle, Alphonso Wright of Memphis, Tennessee; and many other cousins, relatives and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Esly Mae Parker, three brothers, Stanley, Eric, and Elton Parker, one sister, Jerlean Boyd, and one nephew, Elton Parker, Jr.
