Stephen L. Winchester

November 7, 1960 — December 3, 2022

Stephen Lynn Winchester passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022, age 62. Stephen was born November 7, 1960 in Saginaw, Michigan to Joseph Winchester Jr. and Gloria Young Winchester.

Stephen attended Saginaw Public Schools and was a proud graduate of Saginaw High School class of 1979. He gave his life to Christ later in life and was baptized under the leadership of the late Pastor Willie Hankins. He had a love for cars and had an extensive collection of Mattel and metal die cast cars; he also had a fleet of vehicles which were always clean and well kept. Affectionately known to most as “Big Steve”, he had a laugh like no other and was the life of every party and event, dancing off beat and singing off key. He enjoyed playing cards and hanging around his friends. Stephen was the most selfless person having never met a stranger, to him everyone was family. To have known him was to love him.

Stephen leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Shuttney Lyndai Winchester, ShaMya Lanise Winchester, one son, Stevon Lynell Winchester; grandson, Quinterrion Jones; father, Joseph Winchester Jr.; one sister, Karen (Kennon) Murphy; step-brother, Kenneth (Veleria) Land; step-sister, Jacqueline Land; one nephew, Ashton Powell; three aunts, Ocene Morris, Alice Fields, Helen Scott; one uncle, Lincoln Young; his fiancé, Latanya Buchanan; bonus children, Kayvion Buchanan, Shaukia Buchanan, Ce’Della Virgies, Diontranette Williams, Shadonovan Williams; mothers of his children, Michelle Reed, Verlardner Price, Rochelle Williams and Genetia Wilson; MANY cousins, other relatives and MANY friends including special friends, Larry (Sabrina) Russell; the Stevenson, Griffith and Grayson families.

Stephen was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Winchester III, Stephen Williams; daughter, Diamond Winchester; mother, Gloria J. Winchester; stepmother, Virginia R. Winchester; grandparents; brother-in-law, Felix Gardner; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Ivan E. Phillips and the staff of Paradise Chapel.
