Samuel Sims 'Bo Rat'

May 18, 1943 — March 6, 2016

Mr. Samuel Sims Bo Rat passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Luther Manor Nursing Home. Age 72 years. He was born May 18, 1943 to Porter and Elnora (Dilworth) Sims in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Samuel began his education at George Washington Carver Elementary School in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Upon arrival in Saginaw, Michigan, his education was continued in Saginaw Public Schools. Samuel was a self-taught artist who could draw anything by sight or imagination. His favorite food was brown beans, cornbread and fried chicken which he cooked for himself. Samuel loved to read the Bible, especially 1st and 2nd Samuel, because that is what gave him strength. Bo Rat addressed the boldness of his character. He wouldnt take anything from anyone and he didnt bother anyone. Samuel loved to travel. He got to see and walk on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California. He always talked about that particular trip. He was employed at the General Motors Nodular Iron Foundry for a short time, and he did many odd jobs.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Elnora (Dilworth) Sims Jackson; three brothers, Bishop Norvell (Ava) Sims, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Joseph Q. (Roxane) Jackson, Phoenix, Arizona, Ronnie H. (Renee) Jackson, Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, June D. Pratt, Saginaw, Michigan; one uncle, Joseph Dilworth; one aunt, Lois Muhammad; sister-in-law, Lillian Jackson; many nieces, nephews and cousins; two special friends, Diann Jones and Marcus Jones.
Samuel was preceded in death by a loving stepfather, Earl Jackson, Sr., two brothers, Kevan Jackson, Sr., Earl Jackson, Jr., two sisters, Esther Green and Chenzina Jackson, one aunt, Mae Bethel Keener, six uncles, Musa Muhammad, Thomas Dilworth, Samuel Keener, Curly Dilworth, VanLester Dilworth and Richard Dilworth.
The family would like to give special thanks to Shavonne at the group home, and the hospice nursing staff at Luther Manor.
