It is with deep sadness that we announce Ruby Lee Perkins has went to her heavenly home on June 19, 2022, but not without leaving her mark on this world. Ruby was born on June 15, 1942, in Anguilla, Mississippi to Lela Montgomery and Charlie Haynes. On July 1, 1970, Ruby bought what became her forever home in Lansing, Michigan. There she raised her children and created lasting memories with her grandchildren.
Ruby has always been a hardworking, dedicated, and loving woman. She served as a nurturing lunch aide and mentor for several years at Shabazz Academy, which she adored. She enjoyed gardening, playing her numbers, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her motto was “Forever put God first in all you do”. To know her was to love her and to meet her was a blessing.
Ruby is survived by her children, Brenda Robinson, Elizabeth Perkins, and Raphiel White, her grandchildren, Lela Dalton (Joe Nash), Shatara Dalton, Tasha Canty, Shameka Barney, Robert Haynes Jr., Dontavious Reeves, Jamari Haynes, Janaye Haynes, Jalen Hayes, Keandre Hayes, Talaya Hill, Chris Robinson Jr., Brianna Robinson, and many great-grandchildren.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, Lela and Charlie, her sister, Pankey Camble, her son, Robert Haynes, and her granddaughter Tootie Canty.
