Rose Marie Oliver

September 25, 1956 — December 3, 2013

Our dear Rose Marie Summerville Goree Oliver passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan at age 57 years. She was born September 25, 1956 in Lansing, Michigan to Coressa and Clifford Summerville.
Rose lived in Lansing, Michigan all of her life. She graduated from Sexton High School in 1974 and continued her education at Lansing Community College, where she received an Associate of Arts Dance degree and a certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling. Before becoming disabled, she worked as a delivery person for Prestige Courier Service and with the Lansing Housing Commission. She was a member of Mount Hope (Heart of Hope) Church. Rose represented her name well: a flower of love. She loved everyone and was a ray of sunshine in the presence of everyone she encountered. She encouraged us all with her poetry, words, gifts and smile. We loved Rose, our flower of hope. She loved the Lord and He heard her cry.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory one daughter, Joy Marie Goree; one son, Joseph Solomon Oliver; four sisters, Evelyn S. Dungey, Lois J. Summerville, Jacquelyn Summerville all of Lansing, Michigan and Brenda J. Johnson of Detroit, Michigan; one brother, Michael Martin of Lansing, Michigan; three nieces, Starr, Crystal, Samonza; eight nephews, William Maurice, Larry, Jamone, Adam, Robert, Michael, Jamel, and Christopher ; several great nieces and nephews; four aunts, Naomi Buckley, Norma Jean Stafford, and Bessie (Joe) Swanson and Iona Summerville; one uncle, James Summerville of Detroit, Michigan; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Mona David, Leatrice of California, Debbie of Arizona and prayer partner, Pat Henry of Ohio. Rose was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents Clifford and Coressa Summerville, brothers, Joseph and Raymond Summerville, nephews, Aaron Dungey, and James Lauderdale Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to all who was kind and loving to Rose.
