Robert H. Wasserman peacefully passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at his home in East Lansing, Michigan at the age of 99 years. He was born January 3, 1923, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Florence Wasserman.
Robert was Professor Emeritus of the Mathematics Department at Michigan State University where he worked from 1957 to 1989. He did his undergraduate work in Physics at the University of Chicago and received his Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of Michigan. Robert published Tensors and Manifolds with Oxford University Press. He enjoyed sailing. Robert was a long-time member of the Peace and Education Center, an antiwar, environmental, and alternative energy activist. He had ties to the Unitarian Universalist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Wasserman; daughter, Lynn (Randy) Scott; daughters by marriage, Tina (Bill) Mannix, Beth (Lon) Diehl, Mickey (Colleen Curran) Brennan and Mary (Kevin) Cook; grandchildren, Sara (Godys) Armengot, Ziba (Alice Lam) Scott, Margaret (Nick) Parsa, Clark Diehl and Avery Cook; and great-grandsons, Damian Armengot and Miles Parsa.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph and Florence (Schanhouse) Wasserman of Chicago and his first wife, Margaret (Miller) Wasserman.
