Robert T. Haney

May 24, 1949 — June 26, 2017

Robert Terry Haney passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Cedar Woods Assisted living in Belleville, Michigan. He was born in Lockesburg, Arkansas on May 24, 1949 to J.B. Haney and Faye (Brown) Haney.

At the young age of 4, Robert and his family moved to Saginaw, Michigan where he would grow up enjoying spending quality time with his family and friends. As a young man, Robert developed a strong interest in cars. He took pride in keeping his cars detailed and as clean as they were the day they rolled off of the showroom floor. Robert always had a strong faith in God, but his relationship became even closer when he lost his dad, J.B., in October of 1975.

Robert was a proud graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1967. He worked at the Frankenmuth Brewery as a Brewmaster for many years until he started having health issues. Because of this, he sought after a warmer climate and decided to relocate to California where his oldest brother Henry lived. While in California, Robert resided in Sacramento for many years and later relocated to San Diego while working as a Senior Claims Analyst for United Healthcare. Health became an issue once again, so Robert decided to move back to Michigan to be close to his family. He was an active member of Victorious Believers Ministries until his health prevented him from attending.

Quiet but friendly; Robert was very hardworking and loved by everyone that he came in contact with because of his laugh, sense of humor and infectious personality. He enjoyed watching his Los Angeles Lakers basketball, Oakland Raiders football, and Detroit Tigers baseball. And, while cruising around in his cars, he enjoyed the smooth sounds of Motown, as he was a huge fan of the Temptations. Conservative, neat, clean, well-groomed and meticulous are just a few words to describe the lifestyle of Robert Haney. He was also the true definition of a perfect gentleman.

He leaves to cherish his memory his only son, Rondell (Rachel) Sherman, Belleville, Michigan; two grandsons, Ryan and Rhys Sherman, Belleville, Michigan; one sister, Charlotte (Purcell) Nash, Saginaw, Michigan; two brothers, Wendell Haney and Arnell Williams, both of Saginaw, Michigan; one step-brother, Herbert Williams, Saginaw, Michigan; two step-sisters, Marie Williams-Bradley, Toledo, Ohio and Sharrie Williams-Crawford, Saginaw, Michigan; special aunt, Bennie Scroggins; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews; special friends, Sullivan Hamilton, Gilbert Jones, and Robert Reid.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. Haney and Faye Williams; brothers, Henry and James Haney; grandmother, Murdell Easter; stepfather, Olaska Williams, and stepsister, Andrea Williams.

Our family gives very special thanks to our close friends, Janie Cork and Emma Donald, the Rubie Moorer family, the staff at Cedar Woods Assisted Living; Pastor Chris and Kenyatta Pryor and the entire Victorious Believers Ministries.
