Robert Lee Wilson, Jr. "Big City"

Mr. Robert Lee Wilson Jr. “Big City” went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at the age of 79 years. He was born January 30, 1942 in Berry, Alabama to the late Robert L. Wilson Sr. and Katie Wilson.

“Big City” was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan, where he attended Arthur Hill Technical High School. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and was a former member of St. Luke C.M.E. Church. He later attended Greater Solid Rock Baptist Church. Mr. Wilson was employed by General Motors (Chevrolet Grey Iron Foundry), retiring after thirty years of service. He was affiliated with UAW Local 668. Robert enjoyed watching Lifetime TV, watching football with his wife, his favorite team being the Kansas City Chiefs. His favorite pastimes included playing cards and going to the casino. Known for being a sharp dresser, Robert loved his Soul music and wiping his Cadillac. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his wife. “Big City” will be missed by family and friends who loved him dearly.

He leaves to cherish loving memories his wife, Isabel Yrlas-Wilson; two daughters, Sundra (Dwayne) Sample, Texas, and Serena Wilson, Saginaw; one stepdaughter, Teresa M. Yrlas, Saginaw; grandchildren, Priscilla Henry, Alexandria, Jonathan, and Benjamin Sample, Sundrena (C. Tramaine) Jones, William Wilson, Manison (Jessica) Toney, Larry D. Toney, Iisyss, Karmin, Isaiah, DyMin Wilson, all of Saginaw, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Azaylia Toney, Manison N. Toney; stepmother, Henrietta Wilson-Low; many nieces including Jamie (Walter) Mays, Saginaw, Delinda (Dean) Russell, Texas, Pamela (Scott) Russell, Ypsilanti; many nephews including James Wilson Jr., Thomas Wilson, Anthony West Wilson, all of Saginaw, and Steven Wilson, Tennessee; many cousins; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Wilson, Jesse Wilson and Marta Lozano, all of Saginaw, and Elena Yrlas, Wisconsin; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Kenny Champion, Donella Morris, Governor Gray, B.R. Jones, Frank Jones, and all of his friends at Frank’s Place.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Wilson, Katie Wilson, son, Robert Deon Wilson, daughter-in-law, Tara Wilson, six brothers, Thomas, Milford, William, James, Micheal, and Charles Wilson, brother-in-law, Jose R. Yrlas, and friend, Cornell Jones Jr.
