Ramon Garza, Jr. (Lansing)

October 1, 1936 — January 7, 2020

Reverend Ramon Garza, Jr. passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in Lansing, Michigan. Age 83 years. He was born October 1, 1936 in Brownsville, Texas, the son of Ramon and Maria Luisa (Cisneros) Garza.

Ramon was a member of Tabernacle of David Church in Lansing, Michigan and served in the U.S. Air Force. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was married to his loving wife Esther and shared a love of bringing God’s Word to the world through evangelizing. Esther shares the story of their love for each other and the Lord in Ramon’s story:

“Ramon and I got married at a young age. I was raised in a family of Believers and Ramon loved praying for our food. Mama was an devote Christian. She loved to talk to Ramon about the Lord. We come from a long line of ministers. Gran-mama and Grandpa ministered all of their lives in one capacity or another and as Ramon sat and listen, he was so intrigued with the word of God that at the first Altar call of the service his life was completely changed. The hunger and thirst for God lasted his entire lifetime. We started our married life with nothing to speak of but our belief in the power of God to provide. Our believe brought us through many hard times. The call of God was on us and it was so strong that it caused us to leave work, sell everything and follow Christ. We were never sorry that we put down our “nets” and followed Him. We were never sorry (ouch)! We were always grateful for what God provided for our meal. We learned the meaning of “Eat what’s put before you!” Sometimes it was hard but we learned to eat foods such as, beaver, duck, goose, bear, moose (NOOSE)(NOSE), corn soup and other foods that were unusual. We learned to trust God for our very lives. When we would get sick, me with parasites and Ramon with high blood pressure on a plane, we both got miraculously healed. And that was just one time of many healings by the Lord. Believe me when we got sick, we got sick!! During this time God used us in the ministry of miracles and wonders. I want to share when we were in the Bahamas. The power of God was so strong that when the people were healed, they would fly through the air backwards like fish. Many miracles were received that night. The people were very receptive to God. There was a person with a withered hand who was completely healed. This was one of many healing miracles that took place that night. We traveled to Guatemala and helped build a school and Church. Our service to God took us throughout the world spreading the good news of God’s love and mercy; some of those countries are Cuba, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Trinidad, Bogota, Columbia, Ireland, Europe, Venezuela, Mexico, and Canada. We preached a lot in Canada and throughout the United States of America. So, when you look into Ramon’s face you are looking at a Saint that’s happy to be home. He is rejoicing in the comfort and care of the Lord. Truly, Esther”
