Mr. Percy L. Washington passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at Covenant Healthcare-Harrison. Age 59 years. He was born December 17, 1952 in Isola, Mississippi to Roosevelt and Dorothy Johnson-Washington.
Percy relocated to Saginaw, Michigan in 1969 where he began working at Saginaw Nodular Iron Foundry, Saginaw Grey Iron Foundry and was a member of UAW Local 668. Percy married Ethel Hibbler on February 13, 1972. She survives him.
He was a member of Spiritual Israel Church. Percy loved fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 41 years, Mrs. Ethel Hibbler-Washington; six daughters, Felisa Cooper, Gena Cole, Cynthia, Shelea, Heather and Taqueya Washington; one son, Micheal (Stephanie) Washington; six sisters, Celestine (Lewis) Ward and Dorothy Washington, both of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Barbara and Ruby Washington, Anettea (Shawn) Clack, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Janet Washington, Isola, Mississippi; three brothers, Collins (Wanda) Washington, Saginaw, Michigan, Frankie and Freddie Brown, both of Mississippi; seventeen grandchildren, Itoya Millege, Canada and Raphell Cooper, Micheal Washington, LaDazia Sumler, DaNazia, Jakobi and JaBari Washington, Donte and Demonte Cole, Nevaeh and Duncan Cole, Aaron Johnson, Tariah Cheatham, Christyle, Darshon and Erin Washington; two great-grandchildren, Jada Washington and Andrew Rambert; special aunts, Mary Byrd, Mary Washington; special cousin, Eddie Washington; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friends, June, John, Brother Page and Clifton.
Percy was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Dorothy Washington; grandparents, John and Albenta Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. John Washington; three brothers, Willie Washington, Roosevelt Washington Jr., Melvin Washington; four uncles, Hercules Washington, John and Nathaniel Johnson, William Byrd; one grandchild, JaQuavis Washington.
The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Robert Davis Jr. and Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Cedric R. Cheatham, Pastor E.W. Bouthel, Luther Manor Nursing Home, Heartland Nursing Home, the staff of Covenant Healthcare Cooper and Harrison and for the abundance of love, phone calls, prayers and condolences we have received during our time of bereavement.
