Pell Malone

September 28, 1920 — July 6, 2015

Brother Pell Malone was born Sir Pell Malone on September 28, 1920 to Lucille Wyatt and Robert Sapp in Homer, Louisiana.
Mr. Malone developed a love for golf as a caddy at a young age, a game he would play and perfect over the next 60 years. In 1942, Sir Pell was drafted into the United States Army and he served in World War II. After his discharge, he came to Saginaw, Michigan and began working at the Saginaw Malleable Iron Foundry. Pell met Ernistine Upshaw and they were soon married and remained married for 57 years, until she went to be with the Lord. His style of dress was a force to be reckoned with, and he was known by some as Mr. Saginaw. Pell was always kind, respectful, humble, loving and willing to help when there was a need. A faithful member of Bethel AME Church, and a member of UAW Local 455, his presence will be truly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memories, daughter, Annie Ruth Medows, Richmond, California; eight nieces, Johnnalynn Johnson, Saginaw, Michigan, Gloria Heard, Jeanetta Shine, Denese (Anthony) Shepard all of Shreveport, Louisiana, Sharon (Marcus) Adams of Madison, Alabama, Launa Ballard, Gary, Indiana, Judy Dickens and Elaine of Atlanta, Georgia; three nephews, Dennis (Regina) Heard, Anthony (Tonya) Johnson, Flint, Michigan, and Randolph Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia; a host of family and friends including special friends, Bill Long, Sam Jones, Sam Jackson, Florida Pruitt, Omega Matthews of Dayton, Ohio, Tanya Quiroz, Atlanta, Georgia, Alicia Nelson and Valarie Johnson, and Earmon Smith.
Sir Pell Malone was preceded in death by his wife, Ernistine Malone, a sister and three brothers.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to Daisy (Runnel) Lay, Loretta King, the King family, Comforcare Senior Living, Mark Lewis, Bette Ford, Anthony Hicks, Kevin Quiroz, and the North End Detail Car Wash, for their expressions of kindness during this time of grief.
