Patricia Norwood

February 13, 1950 — July 11, 2012

First Lady Patricia Norwood transitioned to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. She was born on February 13, 1950, in Crawfordsville, Arkansas. She was raised in a single-parent home by her mother, Carrie Curtis.

Patricia assisted in the domestic responsibilities of the home. Being the eldest child, she helped in establishing a good foundation of family values for her siblings. Patricia and her family were actively involved in the New St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church throughout her teenage years. At the age of 14 years she met the love of her life, Bishop Albert Norwood Jr. She fell in love with him and his entire family. Patricia was constantly socializing with her future in-laws. She learned her great cooking skills from her mother-in-law. These skills were often put to use by cooking for her family, visiting ministers, and saints.

Patricia received the Holy Ghost in 1982 at Bethlehem Temple Church of Lansing under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Alfred Singleton. She later followed her husband to the ministry of Bishop David W. Maxwell, where she faithfully served in many departments. In 1986 Patricia and her husband began ministering in Saginaw, Michigan by establishing The New Covenant Temple Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. In 1997 they established New Covenant South Ministries of Memphis, Tennessee. Patricia was a fighter until the end. In pain and sickness, she was faithful to her family and both ministries. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Lady Patricia married her beloved husband of 44 years, Albert Norwood Jr. on September 21, 1968, at the age of 18 years. He survives her. This God-appointed union produced five children, Ronald K. Norwood, Adrian A. Norwood, Justin A. Norwood, Errin O. (Kendall) Norwood, Jantzen L. (Tanoris) Norwood-Shepard and fourteen grandchildren.

In her transition, Patricia also leaves her siblings, Lucious (Lynn) Boyd, Ivan Boyd, Arlet (William) Brown-Jeffries, Wannetta Jones, Lee (Tammy) Brantley, Charlesetta (Ricky) Owens, Gregory Jones, Gwendolyn Best, Janice (Leon) Akins-Freeman, Darryl Jones, Steven Jones and Jacquelyn (Jimmie) Villarreal; her grandchildren, Kristen, Justin, Tiara, Marquis, Keyahni, JayAhna, Maiya, Torin, Denaya, Lynnae, Jordan, Jaiden, Jeremy, and Tyran; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carrie Curtis; one son, Justin A. Norwood; two brothers, Wayne and Reginald Jones.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Eliezer Temple Church of Lansing, Michigan, Bishop David W. Maxwell, Eliezer Church of Flint, Michigan, Bishop Raymond Dunlap, Trueway Church of Nashville, Tennessee, Bishop Henry Davenport and Elder Bruce King, Flint, Michigan.
