Pastor Sylvester Hill

Pastor Sylvester Hill passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan at the age of 68 years. He was born September 4, 1951 in Camden, Alabama, the son of Matthew and Martha Hill.

Sylvester had been a resident of Saginaw, Michigan since the age of three and graduated from Arthur Hill Tech and studied at Central Michigan University and Delta College. Sylvester was employed at Delphi Automotive for 31 years and Aptar in Midland, Michigan.

Sylvester accepted the Lord at the age of eighteen and served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He was elevated to a Minister under the leadership of Superintendent Roosevelt Chapman and later ordained to Elder Sylvester Hill by Bishop P.A. Brooks. After the passing of Superintendent Roosevelt Chapman, he served under the leadership of Superintendent Robert Smith and Superintendent James Wells. In 2015, he was elevated to Pastor of Community Temple Church of God in Christ. He held the positions of Secretary and Treasurer of CMAS, North Eastern Michigan Evangelist Department.

Sylvester was predeceased by his mother, Martha Ann Hill; brother, Willie McDaniel; sisters, Glorious Ragland, Martha Marcella Hill; special nephew, Damontae Fluellen.

He leaves to cherish his memory the mother of his children, Vicki Hill; daughter, Schronda Latrice Hill; son, Marcus (Marah) Hill; one granddaughter, Harlynn Daye Hill; father, Matthew (Bettie) Hill; siblings, Linda (Larry) Belle, Iwanna Hill, Matthew Novak Hill, Gretchen Jamie Hill, Chris Edwards, Mikeeta North, Senya Hill; nephews, Jeffery (Sharon) Hill, Michael Hill, Drevonne Fluellen; niece, MaShea Hill; uncle, Edward (Maggie) Hill; aunts, Flora Mae Brown, Sadie Jackson; godchildren, Mike Kutzback, Cetrice Bowens, Chawntrell Mathis, Chauncey Johnson, Candace Harshaw, Micah Bryson, Crystal Bryson; over twenty-five more nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives.

The family would like to thank all those who called, text, sent emails, or simply prayed for the family. A special thanks to the staff of Henry Ford Hospital, Nurses Tina, Chuck, Susan, and Sabrina from Hospice care. Also, thank you to Community Temple COGIC and the entire Unity District.
