Pastor Nelson Smoot

Pastor Nelson Smoot went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 59 years. He was born on October 14, 1957 in Farm Haven Mississippi to Era and Henry Smoot.


Pastor Smoot was the former pastor of Jesus Love Unlimited Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, Saginaw, Michigan. He was a former employee of Pacific Bell Phone Company. He retired from a plant in Mississippi. Pastor Smoot enjoyed going to rummage sales, bike riding, and reading the Bible.

He leaves to cherish loving memories his wife of twenty-nine years, Norene Denise Smoot, Saginaw, Michigan; three daughters, Cathie Williams, Riverdale, Georgia, Lillie Mae and Mary of Mississippi; one son, Ricky, also of Mississippi; two special grandchildren, Evan and Essence Dawson, Austell, Georgia; five sisters, Alice and Regina Smoot, Gloria (Kevin) Glover, Jessie Ratliff, all of Mississippi; Earlean (David) Abraham, Houston, Texas; two brothers, Edmond and Willie Smoot, Saginaw, Michigan; three special nieces, Stephanie Smoot, Nashville, Tennessee, Elizabeth Smoot, Houston, Texas, Venus Shacks, Austell Georgia; special friends, Lanny, Saginaw, Michigan and Phil Kaleski, Carrollton, Michigan; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pastor Smoot was preceded in death by his parents, Era and Henry Smoot; sister, Vickie Smoot; nephews, Michael and Jason Smoot; and great-nephew, Armondo Smoot.
