Pastor James M. Martin (Lansing)

Pastor James M. Martin transitioned from his earthly tabernacle to his Heavenly Home with the Lord on Friday, November 5, 2021, at McLaren Greater Lansing in Lansing, Michigan. Age 69 years. He was born in Portland, Oregon on October 29, 1952, the son of John W. Martin and Mertia Eddiness.

He gave his life to the Lord at the early age of 7. He began his evangelistic ministry at the age of 21 in the state of Arkansas. As a young man he became a National Evangelist with the C.O.G.I.C. He also served in the YPWW, and many other areas within the C.O.G.I.C. Many have been blessed by his album and book, “Time of Refreshing”. Pastor Martin was pastoring at New Hope Church of God in Church in Lansing, Michigan at the time of his death.

Pastor James Martin loved his family and adored his grandkids. He also enjoyed going to the beach, writing, traveling, making music. but above all he loved sharing the Gospel through preaching.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Cora L. Martin; daughter, Tiffany (Isaac) Toldson of Cedar Hill, Texas; son, Marvin Martin; 2 stepchildren, Anthony Luckett and Donald Dedrick; 11 grandchildren, Isis, I’Ya, I’Kira, Ilea, I’Anna, Ibrie, and Iris Toldson, Faith, Ezekiel, Hope and Isaiah Martin, all of Cedar Hill, Texas; 3 step grandchildren, Diamond, Shawnniece, Chantel and Decorey Dedrick; brother, Frank Booker; 8 nieces, Glenda Sweet, Shalonda Booker, Tisha Barber, Carey Simms, Cherry Simms- Lindsey, DeAngela Kittrell, Antoinette Scott and Teea Martin; 5 nephews, Andre Sweet, Jamal Barber, Darrell Barber, Brandon Wilson, Stephino Brown; 8 sisters-in-law, Lucy (Noble) Moore, Genor (Joe) Wright, Rena (Darrell) White, Vivian (Shadon) Rollins, Catrina (James) Taylor, Mary Brown and Sherry Luckett; brother-in-law, Percy (Jackie) Day; New Hope Church of God in Christ members; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 sisters, Vernastene Sweet, Ella Booker- Taylor, Brenda Wilson, Mertria Barber and Janice Martin; niece, Dedra Martin, and nephew, Tont Sweet.
