Mrs. Olean Bodiford went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at her residence. Age 82 years. She was born January 25, 1929 in Luverne, Alabama to Obie and Gertrude McGhee.
She married Ralph Bodiford April 2, 1945; he preceded her in death May 15, 1996. She joined St. Luke CME Church May 1960 under the leadership of Pastor Dotey I. Isom. As an active member she served as secretary and teacher of the Sunday School department. Her responsibilities included sending cards to the sick & shut-in and grieving families. She also served on the Stewardess Board for 33 years as a Trustee, Steward and Missionary. Olean ordered palms for 35 years for Palm Sunday.
She is survived by her children, Eunice (Lawrence) Simmons, Diane, Charlene and Tommie Bodiford all of Saginaw, MI, Andrew Bodiford, Phoenix, AZ; a special son, Eugene Phillips; one sister, Merzell McGhee, Columbus, OH; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Obie and Gertrude Bodiford; siblings, Lonnie and Ozell McGhee, special friend, Ruby Alexander.
