Noah Williams, Jr.

September 12, 1931 — November 9, 2019

Mr. Noah Williams, Jr. was born September 12, 1931 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Noah Williams, Sr. and Emma King. He joined his Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 9, 2019.

In search of better opportunities, he left the segregated south and moved north to Saginaw, Michigan. He became employed with the General Motors Corporation Malleable Iron Plant and worked tirelessly until his retirement. He believed in hard work and dedication and was an active member of UAW Local 455 during his employment and retirement.

Growing up in the south and enduring racism and segregation made Noah strong and a fighter. After moving to Saginaw, he became active and a staunch supporter of A. Phillip Randolph and the Saginaw NAACP. He was very outspoken in his commitment to equal rights, fair pay, fair housing and many other issues plaguing African Americans. He was so wise and educated and always spoke with passion.

In his spare time, Noah enjoyed playing cards, watching westerns, spending time with family and cuddling with his cat Simone. He had an awesome sense of humor and was very loving and supportive of his family. He was there to be a listening ear, give advice and offer understanding and encouragement. This wonderful man was a gift from God for 88 years and he will truly be missed.

Williams; daughters, Lillie Williams, Betty Loving; stepson, Carl Alexander; parents, Noah Williams Sr. and Emma King; stepfather, Luke Johnson; brother, James Johnson; sister, Louvina Johnson; grandparents, Jesse and Stella King; son-in-law, George Sayers.
