Nancy Doxie

Mrs. Nancy Mae Doxie was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper at the age of 86 years. She was born on November 15, 1929 in Lauderdale, Alabama to John and Margaret McDaniel.
Nancy married Emmite Doxie, Jr. on October 16, 1947 in Florence, Alabama. They moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1952. Nancy was employed at Vlasic Pickle Factory thirteen years. She was a 1981 graduate of Saginaw Adult Education High School, and was a 1982 graduate of Cake Decorating School. Nancy accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Mrs. Doxie was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church over fifty years, uniting under the leadership of the late Pastor O.J. Steele, and continuing to serve under Pastor Emeritus Dr. Roosevelt Austin and Pastor Rodrick A. Smith. She sang with the Gospel Chorus, until her health declined. Nancy was also affiliated with Queen Deborah Chapter # 110 Order of the Eastern Star for thirty-five years. She had numerous hobbies including sewing, crocheting, pottery, cooking and decorating cakes. Nancy was famous for her homemade rolls, pound cakes and wedding cakes.
She leaves to cherish loving memories her husband of sixty-nine years, Emmite Doxie, Jr.; three daughters, Deborah Moore, Las Vegas, Nevada, Alicia (Earl) Doxie-Mack, and Margaret Whitley of Saginaw, Michigan; four sons, Larry (Eloise) Doxie, Las Vegas, Nevada, William Doxie, Saginaw, Michigan, Leonard (Dorothy) Doxie of Lansing, Michigan, and Frederick (Shirley) Doxie of Atlanta, Georgia; twenty-six grandchildren; sixty-four great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Evangelist Nazola (Pastor John) Morgan, Jackson, Florida; three brothers, William (Emma) McDaniel of Saginaw, Michigan, Harold (Barbara) McDaniel of Florence, Alabama, and Samuel McDaniel of Grand Rapids, Michigan; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; seven sisters-in-law, Christine Livingston, Hattie Doxie, Sarah Johnson, Evea Doxie, Ester Mae Napier, Mary Louise McDaniel and Phyllis McDaniel; brother-in-law, William Howard (Geraldine) Doxie; many other relatives and special friends, Lucille McDaniel and ONeal Parish.
Mrs. Doxie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret McDaniel; one son, Thomas Ray Doxie; three sisters, Cyntonia Roach, Frances Inez McDaniel, Fannie B. Doxie; three brothers, John T., James and Joseph McDaniel; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, one son-in-law, Jerry Whitley, and four brothers-in-law.
