Nakisha Franklin

Ms. Nakisha Ann Nicole Franklin passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 36 years. She was born on August 21, 1981 in Saginaw, Michigan to Lionell Terell and Scarlett (Franklin) Adams.

Nakisha accepted the Lord at an early age. She previously resided in Saginaw, Michigan, but was a resident of Atlanta, Georgia at the time of her passing. She attended Saginaw Public Schools and was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School, “Class of 2002.” She received an Associate Degree in Theater Arts and Science from Delta College. In 2004, NaKisha relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina where she lived for thirteen years. After moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, Nakisha attended the University of North Carolina and the Art Institute to enhance her knowledge and skills in Filmmaking and Photography. Over the course of time, Nakisha has written, produced and directed a few short films of her own, as well as worked on the set of other filmmakers. She was in the process of directing her very first full feature film that she wrote entitled “For the Love in Them.” Nakisha believed this would have been a great intro for her into the film industry as a professional filmmaker. She was an entrepreneur and proud founder of Nakisha A.N. Franklin Productions. Although she loved her career, Nakisha loved the Lord and her family even more. She will be truly missed by family and friends who loved her dearly.

She leaves to cherish loving memories her parents, Scarlett (Frank) Adams and Lionell Terell; godson, DeShawn Fifer; grandmother, Evelyn Adams, two sisters, Denise (Tamaris) Franklin, Saginaw, Michigan, Tammiesha Franklin, Charlotte, North Carolina; four brothers, Keith (Lakenya) Franklin, Damar (Chara) Adams, Breontay (Kimberly) Franklin, Quinten D. Franklin, all of Charlotte, North Carolina; eleven nieces, Mi’Angel, Ta’Mya and Lakyah, Saginaw, Michigan, Azariah, Kimariah, Khloe, Cara, Malaya, Nylah, MIAngel and Nakariy, all of Charlotte, North Carolina; three nephews, Damar Jr., Jeremiah, Quinten Jr., Cameron Dontae Jr., and Navariy, all of Charlotte, North Carolina; three aunts, Ada Franklin, Saginaw, Michigan, Debra (Melvin) Byrd, Holland, Michigan, Priscilla Franklin, Charlotte, North Carolina; one uncle, Warren Franklin, Jr; many cousins; special cousin, Alexis Franklin; best friend of twenty-four years since 6th grade, Shauna Williams, Saginaw, Michigan.

Nakisha was preceded in death by her grandmother, Leola Franklin, grandfathers, Warren Franklin, Sr., and Fred Adams, Sr.; cousin, Tyrese Franklin, and uncle, Fred Adams, Jr.
