Mrs. Ellen Dexter gained her wings on November 28, 2021, at her residence in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 66 years. She was born November 25, 1955, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Ellery and Dorothea Blakes.

Ellen was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan where she was loved by many. She retired from Wal-Mart and worked in fine arts where she played a leading role of Tina Turner for several years. Ellen was a Daughter of Charlotte Ray Temple 549. Ellen, known for her beautiful smile and for being well-dressed, loved dancing and spending time with family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Loving memories will be cherished by her daughter, Roshanda Blakes (Kevin Jordan); Ellen was also blessed with four bonus daughters, Sheria Dexter, Mary Jean (Bennie) Lowe, Carmella Lowe, and Sharel Land; brothers, Samuel Templeton, Jr., North Dakota, Charles Blakes, Saginaw; sisters, Deborah Templeton, Joslin Blakes, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mildred Long-Templeton, and Marilyn Favorite Harris; stepfather, Samuel Templeton, Sr.; aunt, Joslin Morgan; her dear friend, Eddie Smith; grandchildren, Dequavis (Fatima) Blakes, Deonte Monroe, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jermaine Askew, Lansing, Michigan, Deliance Blakes, Saginaw, Michigan, Ty’Kyrab, Terrell, Tiondra, and Jaden, Kalamazoo, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Zoey Williams, Zarria Williams, Samyia, Paris, Deonte Jr., Adrian, Caiden, Nzonga, Amina, Jaceon, and Rose Blakes; best friends, Faye Dickson, Karen Anderson, Lynn Rogers, May Redeemer, Etta Smith, and Loretta; a host of favorite cousins including special cousins, Frank and Mattie Moore, Gregory Blakes, Felecia Layton, and Cheryl Williams.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Abraham Dexter, Jr.; parents, Ellery and Dorothea Blakes; son, Eddie Blakes, Jr.; brother, Arthur Blakes; sister, Jackie Essex; aunt, Dorlean Morgan, and special cousin, Florene Jackson.
