Mother Lucy Alexander

Mother Lucy Alexander passed away on November 8, 2021, at Covenant HealthCare Cooper at the blessed age of 97 years. She was born on May 19, 1924, to Willie and Clara (Wiley) Hall in Macel, Mississippi.

Lucy married James Alexander on January 20, 1951. Their union lasted until the time of his death. After they moved from Memphis, Tennessee to Vassar, Michigan, Lucy was employed by Eaton Foundry and retired in 1986. She was a member of Good Shepherd COGIC, pastored by the late Superintendent Theodore Monroe from 1968 to 1980. Lucy loved cooking for family and friends, watching Family Feud and other game shows. She especially loved her church family at Greater Ephesians COGIC, pastored by the late Superintendent James Slade (1980-1989) until his death, and then Administrative Assistant, Harold W. Jones, Sr. from 1989 - present. Mother Alexander was a faithful member to Greater Ephesians COGIC for a total of 41 years, where she served on the Mothers’ Board and was a fervent Prayer Warrior. Lucy was a kind lady and was loved by many.

She leaves to cherish loving memories sons: Jimmie (Annette) Hall, Saginaw, Michigan, Jimmy Ellis, Los Angeles, California; two daughters: Ruby White, Saginaw, Michigan, and Diaroyce (Hugo) Humphrey-Mack, Vassar, Michigan; fifteen grandchildren: Mark and Lester White, Kerry (Antwand) Turner, Jimmie (Asia) Hall, Terrell (Sha'dana) Hall, Hezekiah Hall, Daniel Humphrey, Marcus (Latoia) Humphrey, Corey Humphrey, Terrence (LaToya) Humphrey, Rachel Alexander, James Alexander, Clinton Ellis, Camille Ellis, Pia Richard, and Gabriel Gladney; two sisters: Sarah Nix, Saginaw, Michigan, Ruby Moorer, Vassar, Michigan; special nieces: Betty Lyles, Lisa Barksdale-Shaw, Kimberly Henderson, 1st Lady Rita Wells, Kendall Coley, Linda Hall, Evelyn Moten, Lauralean Beatty, Rachel Sherman; special nephews: Karl Kennedy, Eric Hall, Keith Hall, and Dorence Hall; twenty-five great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Ruth Curry; special friends: Vina Swinton and Marilyn Cheathem both of Vassar, Michigan; a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by husband, James Alexander Sr., son, James Alexander, Jr, mother, Clara Hall, father, Willie Hall, brothers, Nathaniel, Henderson, and Willie Hall, sisters, Savannah Sims, Frankie Barksdale, and Neze Davis, son-in-law, Solomon White.
