Mother Inell Hoover

December 9, 1939 — May 9, 2022

Webcast

On Monday, May 9, 2022, at the blessed age of 82 years, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend went home to be with our Lord and Savior.  Inell Roundtree Hoover, the daughter of the late Otte Roundtree and Mary Redd was born December 9, 1939, in Durant, Mississippi. Inell had the honor of being lovingly adopted in the Donald family.  Inell and her brother, Jerry, were children of Melvin Sr. and Wardine Donald where they became siblings of Willie, Melvin Jr., Bobby Dale, Jimmy Dale, Charles, Revel, Joe Lewis, Helen, and Erma Jean.

Early in life, Inell was introduced to her husband, Roosevelt Hoover, and they wed in 1954. She was the mother of ten children, five daughters and five sons: Mildred, Jean, Carrie, Sadie, Bessie, John, Jerry, Walter, Louis, and Billy.  The Donald family migrated north and settled in Saginaw, Michigan, in the 4th Street, Kirk, Sears and Norman Avenues known as Houghton Neighborhood. She met lifelong friends, Marion “Tug,” Elizabeth, Regina, Allie Mae, Willie Mae, Minnie Mae, and Jackie.

Inell loved to fish; so much so that she started selling “Night Crawlers” to all our neighborhood fishers. Besides fishing she enjoyed gardening, playing bingo and going to yard and rummage sales. Given an opportunity, she would sneak off and go to the casino to play her nickel slot machines.  Inell was an awesome cook and boy could she cook. She was very protective of her nice stainless steel and cornelle cookwear.  Besides her many hobbies, what she enjoyed most was taking care of her family, praying for them, and keeping house. She loved her quilts and her nice bedspreads. One of her most happiest moments was in 1984, reconnecting with her family from Mississippi, her mother, Mary and her siblings, Airon Louise Thorton and Katie Mae Roundtree.

Memories of her love, caring, and nurturing spirit will be missed by her four daughters and three sons: Carrie (Larry) Campbell, Bessie Sidney, Walter Hoover, Louis (Jayme) Harris all of Saginaw, Michigan; Sadie (Brady) Baldwin of Lubbock, Texas; Jean Williams of Detriot, Michigan; Billy Hoover of Muskegon, Michigan; her grandchildren: Lynn, Sandra, Sherie, Igister III, Larry Jr., Kelvin, Tequila, Tianna, Ashontee, Aniya, Alliyah, Ja’Hon and Kristi; ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Helen Howard; a host of nieces and nephews; her lifelong friend and sister-in-law, Marion “Tug” Donald; and friends, Regina Mosely and the Campbell, Boatman, and Turner families.

Inell Hoover was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roosevelt Hoover, daughter, Mildred Turner, and sons, Jerry and John Hoover; and her siblings.

The family wishes to express thanks to Healthsource Nursing Home and Heartland Hospice for their care and support for Inell Hoover.
