Mildred Welch

Mrs. Mildred Welch was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Avista Nursing and Rehab Center at the blessed age of 89 years. She was born on December 19, 1928 in Ozark, Alabama to Oscar and Eva Mae Shipman.

Mrs. Welch was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. She attended St. Luke CME Church under the leadership of Pastor Joyce Braddock-Redfearn. Mrs. Welch served faithfully as president of Steward Board #1, and as an intercessor.

Mother leaves to cherish loving memories one daughter, Evalene (Reverend James) Hodge, Saginaw, Michigan; two sons, Earl (Linda) Welch, Flint, Michigan and Stanley (Maria) Welch, Saginaw, Michigan; ten grandchildren, Earl Jr. (Tonga) Welch, Sabrina Williams, Tineen (Danny) McDole, Stephanie Welch, Corey (Kenosha) Welch, Jennifer Hodge, Garland Welch, Tongua Welch, Nakella Williams and Shawn (Nonkulueko) Williams; nineteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annie G. Long, Daytona Beach, Florida, and Gracie E. Mosquero, Sumter, South Carolina; one brother, Charles Shipman, Daytona Beach, Florida; sister-in-law, Victoria Calhoun, Ozark, Alabama; many other relatives and friends including a dear friend, Phil (Otissteen) Brown; special friends, Charlene Bodiford, John Holmes, Mamie West, Elizabeth Barnett, Mark, Margaret and John VanBenschoten, Pastor Joyce Braddock-Redfearn and the St. Luke CME Church family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Eva Mae Shipman; husband, Earl Welch; one son, Leon Welch; two daughters, Cora and Valencia Welch; sisters, Mary Alice Baker, Irma Jean Harris, Melvia Lene Flowers; one brother, Oscar Shipman, Jr.

The family expresses special thanks to the staff at Heartland Hospice; Avista Nursing & Rehab Center; Pastor Joyce Braddock-Redfearn; Ivan E. Phillips and the staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
