Michael Pruitt (Lansing)

Michael Anthony Pruitt, Jr. was born April 6, 1988 in Lansing, Michigan to M. Rena Jones and Michael Anthony Pruitt, Sr.

Michael was loving, had a great sense of humor and had a passion for seeing people smile. He was determined to live his absolute best life! Michael loved spending time with his family and friends and always lead the party. He loved dancing, children and always popped up unannounced.

One of his proudest moments was when he became a Father! Logan Noelle Pruitt was born August 28, 2020 at 1:20 a.m. This was Michael’s most recent pride and joy! We could go on and on with conversations he had about his children, family, and friends. But if we had to sum this up his cousin Roshanda said it best in this poem…

“I can’t believe that you’re gone… if I knew that Thursday at grandma’s would have been the last time that I saw you I would have stayed a little longer. I would have hugged you a little tighter. I would have said, I loved you 100 more times. I’m trying to hold it together for the fam but it’s hard. You we’re the loyalty. You we’re the laughter. You we’re the bravery. You we’re the party. You we’re the muscle. You we’re the strength. I don’t know what we’re supposed to do now Michael. We should be taking pictures and talking about the baby. I should be starting your locs, giving you advice and trying to keep you out of trouble. We shouldn’t be here. Not this soon. Not like this. I’m gonna miss the way you would try to hold back your smile. I’m gonna miss you making me take a million pictures of you before you decided on the perfect one. I’m gonna miss your sense of humor. I’m gonna miss your authenticity. I’m gonna miss you always having my back. I love you Cuz.”

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Michael is survived by his mother, M. Rena Jones; father, Michael Anthony Pruitt, Sr.; his beautiful daughters; Logan Noelle Pruitt and Lanarianna Blackman whom he loved with his whole heart; seven siblings, brothers, Delvontae Fry-Hooper, Drevon Pruitt and King Pruitt; sisters, Teeonna Fry-Hooper, Dresha Pruitt, Regina Timmons and Nevaeh Cole; five nephews, Gionni, Purvis Jr., Ny’Yier, Jeremiuh, Delvontae Jr.; eight nieces, Nyla, Naomi, Novah, Samyiah, Kanyiah, Rasyiah, Amaris and Adriana; maternal grandparents, Priscilla Sullivan, Oliver Furlow, and many other relatives and friends including uncles, aunts and cousins! Throughout his lifetime he has gained additional friends that he has called his brothers and sisters!

He was preceded in death by his sister; Pernecia Ke’Amber Jones; brother, Richard Anthony Pruitt, and his paternal grandmother, Betty Pruitt.
