Mr. Michael Andrew Pettigrew of Lansing, Michigan passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Sparrow Hospital. Age 65 years. He was born August 2, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Helen L. Jackson and J.C. Pettigrew.
Michael was a graduate of J. W. Sexton High School and was an honor roll student. He attended Galilee Baptist Church under leadership of the late Rev. Charles Tolbert. He was employed at General Motors for 17 years and Village Party Store. Michael attended Lansing Karate and Judo School with many accomplishments and receiving his belts. He was also a member of Dragons Biker Club for 15 years. Michael will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his children, Varcie Pettigrew of Lansing, Michigan, Minister Quandell Jones, of Detroit, Michigan and Tanaya (Gary) Robinson of Houston, Texas; six sisters, Ardene Jackson, Rene Hester, Addie Jackson, Stephanie Gwin, Anita Jackson and Candice Joy, all of Lansing, Michigan; four brothers, A.J. (Casera) Jackson , Jr., Grady (Shannon) Jackson, Michael Jackson, Sr., Gary (Tanoi) Jackson, Sr. all of Jackson, Michigan; grandchildren, Marlon and Travis Pettigrew, Shardell, Emanuel and Miquel Chambers all of Lansing, Michigan, and Jacob Robinson of Texas; special friends; godmother, Dora Jones, best friends, Balbir Singh, Frank Steward and Clarissa Hyes; godbrothers, Todd and Ricky McMann, godsisters, Wanda, Cynthia, Andre and Monique.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents Helen L. Jackson and J.C. Pettigrew, stepfather, A.J. Jackson, Sr., grandchild, Tyrese Chambers, grandparents, Edgar and Sally Dozier, uncles, Joe L. Edward and Eskimo Dozier, brother, John Charles Pettigrew, aunts, Norma J. Dozier-Orrish, Ruth M. Dozier and Joyce Densmore; great-grandmother, Annie Brother, nieces, Ingrid Pettigrew and Tyrese Tate, nephews, Anthony Benson III and Michael L. Jackson (Little Mike).
