Matthew Deon Ford, Sr.

Mr. Matthew Ford, Sr. passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021, in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 40 years. He was born July 5, 1981, in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of Ann Ford and Darnell Weatherspoon.

Deon accepted Christ at an early age he was baptized at Mount Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor J. P. Wilson in Saginaw, Michigan. He was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Deon worked various jobs; his most recent employment was with Meijer. To know Deon was to love him; regardless as to how you knew him, there was no denying his wittiness. Deon was very charismatic, friendly, big-hearted and outgoing, He had a very “irksome” spirt, but was a very gentle soul that many grew to love. Deon enjoyed reading books and thinking he could cook. He also enjoyed the company of his dog, Princess. Deon’s greatest achievement was his two sons who gave him much joy.

He leaves to cherish his memories his sons, Matthew Ford, Jr. (Ciona Stanton), and Deontay Marion Ford (Daniyia Hooker); his sons’ mother, Crystal Thomas; grandchildren, Josiah, and Jocier Thomas, Kulture and Kashton Davis; mother, Ann Ford; brother, Davon Shine, Lima, Ohio; grandmother, Roxie Ford; godsisters, Tameka Hannah, Kelly Spiller; aunts, LaJoyce (TJ) Jones, Curtise (Dudley) Tatum, and Norma Carter; uncle, Garland (Charlene) Smith; many cousins including special cousins, Donielle “Nikki” Logan and Gerard Franklin; other relatives and special friends including Andy Holmes, Adrienne Mason, Tacreria Voltz; Trellis Johnson, and godparents, Shirley McKnight, Charlene Robinson, Gwendolyn Bowman, and Gloria (Al) Napier,

Deon was preceded in death by his father, Darnell Weatherspoon; grandfather, Robert Ford, great-grandfather, OB Bradley, uncles, Emanuel (Bill) Ford, Charles Ledden, Corintha J. Bush, Sr.; aunts, B. (Charles) Bush-Bankston, and Jewel (Zebedee) Rhodes.
