Mary Lou Buycks (Lansing)

Mrs. Mary Lou Buycks passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Regency Lansing West in Lansing, Michigan. Age 90 years. She was born on January 12, 1928 in Morris Chapel, Tennessee, the daughter of Roy and Effie Lee Dickey.

Mary Lou relocated to Lansing, Michigan in 1960. She was a long-standing member of Union Missionary Baptist Church. Mary Lou was employed by Liquid Glaze located on Grand River Avenue from 1961 through 1965. She was later employed by the Capital City Airport for 20 years. Mary Lou enjoyed spending time with her family. Her favorite interests included going to garage and rummage sales, casinos, fishing, shopping and watching her favorite basketball teams Michigan State University Spartans, Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit Pistons.

She leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Shirley (Joe) Ballard, Venice, Florida; sons, Lamar Buycks Jr., Lansing, Michigan and Ronald (Sondra) Vaughn, Oakville, Missouri; son-in-law, Jeffrey Brown, Edwardsville, Illinois; grandchildren, Ronald (Joelle) Vaughn 2nd, Sonya (Kenneth) Carlisle, Sondra (Reggie) Fifer, George “Teddy” Fifer, Leah Vaughn, Devin (Hannah) Brown, Dorian Brown, Trenton Buycks, and Mikyla Buycks; several great grandchildren; nieces, Margie, Deborah, Essie, DeLisa, Nettie, Jackie and Nedra; nephews, Orlanda, Wendell, Anthony, Mitty and Dwight; other relatives and friends, including special friends, Verma, Clara, Virginia, Nancy and Mary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Buycks, Sr.; parents, Roy and Effie Lee Dickey; daughter, Jessie Bernice Vaughn-Brown, siblings, Bernice Johnson, Effie Lee, Genice Dickey, Arthur Dickey and Selby Dickey; Aunt Savannah and niece, Phobe.
