Martin E. Powell (Lansing)

Mr. Martin “Marty” Edward Powell was called home to be with the Lord early Tuesday morning, September 24, 2019 after a long illness. Age 52. years. He was born May 5, 1952 in Charlotte, Michigan to Violet and William Blaine. In 1960, after his mother remarried, he was adopted by Robert Lloyd Powell.

Marty was a lifelong resident of the Mid-Michigan area. He worked at General Motors and retired from there in 2000. Marty spent his time working on old cars, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and riding horses. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Marty was a loving husband of 31 years to his wife, Anita Mitchell Powell as well as a loving father to his four sons.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his loving wife, Anita; 4 sons, Jessie, Ben, Jordan “Louie” and Jadon; 3 grandchildren, Anthony, Sophia and Vincent; sister, Lori; father-in-law, Charles Mitchell; sister-in-law, Melissa Dukes; 3 brothers-in-law, Barney Adams, Garold “Donnie” (Francine) Mitchell and Charles Tyree Mitchell; many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends including several who thought of him as a Father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Violet Powell; sisters, Linda Kreps, Georgia Powell and Becky Adams; brother, Ralph; and mother-in-law, Elinor Mitchell.
