Marcus Osby George, affectionately known as “Mr. Piggy and MGee”, was born January 31, 1979 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of Robert Steward and Sylvia Lee George. He went home to be with his Heavenly Father on May 21, 2020 at the age of 41 years.
Marcus gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized by Pastor N.F. Pierson. He attended and grew up in Greater Philadelphia Baptist Church but began his career as a drummer at New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Marcus was led to join St. Paul Baptist Church in 2002 where he served faithfully as the drummer until his health failed him. He was a proud graduate of Saginaw High School, “Class of 1998.”
Marcus loved spending time with his family, especially his two oldest children, Isaiah and Zariyah. He was an avid sports junky of softball, baseball and basketball, both community and professional. Marcus was employed with Saginaw Public Schools as Varsity Baseball Coach at his Alma Mater Saginaw High. He also served as a part-time room aide when needed. Marcus will truly be missed by his community where he made an impact on young and old.
Marcus was preceded in death by his grandparents, Osby and Olivia George, Robert Lewis, Billy Jordan and Bill Stewart; great-grandparents, Lowell Sr. and Roberta Steward; aunts, Tina Steward and Ramona Steward Pruitt.
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Zariyah Olivia George and Layla Vargas, Saginaw, Michigan; one son, Isaiah Hosanna George, Saginaw, Michigan; parents, Sylvia Lee George and Robert Steward; stepparents, Sheryl Anderson Steward, Roy L. West; godparents, Dr. Vincent and Dr. Gwendolyn McMillon, Cheryl (Robert) Nash, Thelma Prescott; grandparents, Martha Franklin, Ann Jordan, Jennefee Stewart and Pecola Thompson, all of Saginaw, Michigan; sisters, Latonya McCaley-Edgar, Lansing, Michigan, Nesha West, Danielle Lamping, both of Saginaw, Michigan; one brother, Johnathan George; godbrothers, Casey (Kristin) Cornelius, Bay City, Michigan, John (Tangie) Neal; godchildren, Jazmyne Trevino, Jeremiah Myles; aunts, Fay Steward, Michelle Stewart, both of Saginaw, Michigan, Paula (Aaron) Steward Rogers, Columbus Ohio, Katherine West, Portland, Tennessee, Marcellena (Leon) Voltz, Saginaw, Michigan, Laurie (Candy) Scott, Louisville, Kentucky; uncles, Tony, Monte (Lori), Randall (Mae) Steward, Reginald (Laverne) West, Steven West, Vernon (Constance) Nelson, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Dennis (Stephanie) West, Indianapolis, Indiana, Fred (Kim) Stewart, Billy and Victor all of Saginaw, Michigan; many cousins, other relatives and friends including the mothers of his children, Tanya Roberts and Tanya Vargas, girlfriend Sarah Hale, special friends Courtney Griffin, Dallas, Clay, Timothy Jr. (Misty) Klenaski, SHS C/O 1998, Brittany Myles and Laticia Gutierrez.
